Download and Install Romcenter 3.71.
http://www.romcenter.com/download/rc_3_7_1.exe
Once installed, you must select the folder where you are going to store the config and DAT files.
It is best to use a "New Folder" for this, not the install DIR.
This makes it easier to delete any left over cache files when finished.
Copy the (RC) dat file to the folder you just created.
example
C:\Romcenter\datas\Release (RC).dat
From the RomCenter menu
Select File, New...
select Load games list from a dat file.
select the (RC) dat to load.
C:\Romcenter\datas\Release (RC).dat
Create the Database, save the RDT file when prompted.
Click the Datafile tab to see if it has loaded ok.
Click the Add new rom path icon (Ctrl+O).
Select the folder containing your ROM collection.
*ALWAYS WORK WITH A BACKUP COPY!
Wait for the files to be verified in RC.
(This could take a while if there are a lot of large or zipped files.)
Once finished you will see the status of your rom collection.
Green and Yellow files, are what you are looking for.
GREEN = ROM file is ready for the GameBase.
YELLOW = ROM file only needs renaming to be ready the for GameBase.
RED = ROM file is missing.
You might have a version of the file, but it has the wrong CRC.
scan another collection.
*GREY = Unknown file. (not used in the GameBase)
That does'nt mean the file is BAD and should be deleted, it's just not used in this version.
Select all the yellow files with the mouse, then right click and select RENAME ROMS.
your files should be all GREEN and ready for GameBase.
Use the Shell operations..., to MOVE all green files to your gamebase games folder.
