so why another one which is smaller?

Amstrad Mania has twice as many games as the other one, but a lot less scanned images.

joice: depends on collector/player. I prefer Hardmanm's compilation much better because of counter of games. It has more games & high quality. That is why I support this one.

Laserdisk (original name: Laserbase) by someone & .mad. (99%) and me (less than 1%)

is still uploading. 100 of 129 packages uploaded. In this week will be posted.

Guys, I downloaded "Amstrad CPC v5 (original name: Amstradmania v5)" posted by dax above, but I noticed afterwards that I already had Amstradmania v5, which I believe I got off UG a while back. I noticed that the version posted above by dax (which is titled "Amstrad 464 - 6128, GX4000" seems the same as Amstradmania v5 except unlike Amstradmania the version posted by dax contains emulators, and different scripts and configs for the emulators and the paths changed for the new name.

Since I don't have Amstradmania set up currently, which should I use? It seems the version posted by dax is ready to go with the emulators already included, so would that be the best version to set up? Are there any other differences?

And thanks dax for all the posts you've made recently.

Yes, the ones posted by dax are fully configured since he is basically posting his installed copy. He often has a few favorite games chosen too which is really nice if you are not familiar with the system.

UG's rules prohibit emulators & roms from being in the same torrent, although some choose to skirt around that by just not mentioning the emulators are included. Most choose to leave them out though rather than risk their torrent being deleted by a moderator.

If you are an experienced user, the UG torrents are just fine, but will require more time to setup. It is really up to you which one you choose.

I always add the best games (IMO) to favourites in every gamebase compilation, because I'm getting older every day and there may be such day, when I forget what were the best games for particular platform

I renamed most of original Gamebase compilation names (like Amstradmania v5 for example), not because of disrespect to original creators, but to have "name system", compatible with platforms used in particular compilation.

I always change pathes in INI files and every configuration of emulators in Gamebase's to .\GAMEBASE\<system>, to be independent of directory (but it does not work for some systems, it's obvious). That is also why:

- I wrote instructions for every system with the most important things (controls, joysticks, full screen/window mode, how to close emulator and other important infos (like "how to change discs" - if need). It's in Polish, it needs translation, unfortunatelly.

- I try to leave controls like: cursors and l.shift as fire in most of emulators (85% supports it)

- I wrote batches to fast replace modes between window/full screen (for development/comfortable playing)

and maybe something else

My future plans which I work on are:
- to automate silent installation of "gamebase-setup-v1.3-full.exe" - means install of engine (on fresh installed systems) without any mouse click in "wizard"

- to wrote small program which will find where Gamebase is located (like E:\GAMEBASE) and automatically modify all emulators configuration files to proper paths without any interfere of user (like plugins for N64, Kickstarts for Amiga, BIOS for 3DO, others...).

In other words I want to have EVERY Gamebase compilation FULLY working from first run, independent of disk letter (C:, D:, E:....) and without need of any smallest configuration on user side! User will ONLY read my instruction, runs only one .EXE file (let we call it 'automation file') and every aspect of configuration will be done automatically.

For those of You that may want to use my modification batches, info files (small tutorials - in Polish for now, sorry) , xpadder configurations, emulators "boosted"configurations for window/full screen modes and controls, registry file for optimal icons and windows locations (needs 110% of original DPI in default Windows font in 1920x1200 resolution)... it's here:
