That sounds great. I can't wait to see the result.
Thanks for your work on Gamebase, we much appreciate it.

Been trying to sort this crash problem for over a year now.
and i think i know what it is now.
GameBase will crash if certain characters are used, while flipping through filters/ favourites.
To duplicate the crash.
scroll through the gamebase list near the top ($100,000)
and while holding cursor up (scrolling through list)
click mouse in filter box, the filters will wrap round and crash at any music or game name containing...
"$" "?" "!"
other none NORMAL characters maybe a problem as well.
when gamebase crashes, use task manager to exit.
then run regedit and view the INVALID game or music file in the default view.
edit:
Just noticed the filter doesn't match with the list at the crash.
so it's a filter wrap round crash.
it crashes because the filter doesn't stop at the top (ALL Games).
it wraps round putting the selected item in the quick filter.
which doesn't accept those characters.
Jimbo.
can you please make a small hot fix.
Also when you update GameBase to v1.4.
Please can you make a error check on all incompatible entries, which all cause the front end to crash.
Example
If a Classic Game doesn't have a rating of 5.
(only possible when editing the MDB in Access) it crashes.

Hi, one option that I miss when using this great software, it´s somekind of clean up option that delete every file in the path folders stated in the paths.ini file that doesn´t exists in the gamebase file.

Made a movie of the filter bug.
Notice the TITLE and FILTER menus don't match.
http://megaswf.com/s/2474712
Click "Play flash full screen" Button
After editing the gamebase and putting all the deleted (878) game entries back in.
it still crashes. (so it's not an incorrect cross link.)
But you can see the filter problem.
Could also be something to do with the Music Table using the same index as the Games Table (GA_ID)??
Jimbo
Pretty please with a cherry on top.
can you recompile Gamebase with a fix.

Any chance for a release before Christmas (2012)
btw.
when you talking about "video-support" ,
maybe it's also possible to have a "You-Tube - window",
like several Homepages/Forum's support ?
so we can watch the videos from YouTube, and do not need to store the video-clips on Harddisk.
This could save much Gigabytes for each Gamebase Project.....
That's great JimboJimbo wrote:Yep - vid support is planned - but I'm not getting much done at the moment - when the darker evenings come along I'll get some more done!

Hi Jimbo I can help you with this if you like. I have written a native dll which uses DirectShow to render video to a buffer.Jimbo wrote:Yep - vid support is planned - but I'm not getting much done at the moment - when the darker evenings come along I'll get some more done!

Here is a quote from my post in another thread in regards to Gamebase Amiga usage;
Any ideas if multi disks stored in multi zips will be implemented in Gamebase Frontend 1.4 in regards to extracting the zips before sending to emulators?Ok. I wonder if Gamebase Frotend v1.4 might be able to extract all zip files linked to a game before sending to emulator. From reading the Gamebase Frontend documentation Gamebase currently will extract the first zip file, find an .adf then stop and send that to the emulator. It really should unzip all zip files linked to the game and then find/send all adf files to the emulator. Ofcourse all the zips for a game would have to be linked in the mdb which currently does not happen (only first zip is linked and then uses an *1.zip *2.zip *3.zip or *diska.zip *diskb.zip *diskc.zip lookup to find the rest when 'sending ZIPs' to emulators). Also, Gamebase would probably need to be told which of the extracted .adf files is disk1 and which is disk2, disk3, etc..

It would be nice if you could display multipe screenshots hortizonally instead of just vertically (up/down) for 16:9 monitors that some only support a vertical resolution of 768 (1366x768) pixels or something, and you won't have to resize the screenshots from their native resolution just to fit at least 2 shots on the screen, which the results arn't pretty.

I would like an option that allows you to rebuild the database in another folder, taking all the linked files, so you can have a clean gamebase

Hi James,
I have a few questions concerning video playback:
- what codec(s) do you plan to use ?
- would there be a way to playback emulator recording like SNP, RZX... ? I don't mean as an extra link, I mean autoplay them in the same way we automatically see the screenshots on the side.
Thanks as always for your awesome work & I hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers,
Loic
