According to this...
https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=61009.0
The error is due to the "AmigaOS 3.1 recommended patch level".
if it is not exact, the WHDLoad won't work.
so, a file on the workbench image needs updating.
I guess, some older WHDLoads will need a lower patch level (makes sense).
so you might need a couple of Amiga OS images to work with.
try looking for a newer or older version of the game you are having problems with.
and try to find info online, what version it requires.

Re: Commodore Amiga
this time is Pizza Connection English translated and generally many new slave that use Workbench31_1.slave, Workbench31_4.slave. If the game has Workbench13_1.slave it works. Many of this games are prepared to be run inside Workbench Amiga with iGame.
These archives are .lha format and with gamebase must be in zip format. i convert lha to zip with IZark. Many new games working, but many other no.
Old WHDLoad working good.
i tried these slaves via gamebase with workbench installation on 2.x and 3.x, but i have same errors. I think the problem are the slave files.

http://www.whdload.de/games/PizzaConnection.html
looks like this is an old one from 2013.
maybe translation is much newer, but protection check should be same.
Kickstart name 34005.a500
Kickstart size 256 KiB ($40000)
Kickstart checksum $f9e3
i know i had many problems and errors unpacking lha and rezipping on PC side.
several archive utils, WinRAR, WinZIP etc are not upto the job.
some filenames and foreign characters are simply not allowed in Windows/DOS.
only way that is 100% guaranteed, is to unpack inside WinUAE emulator using DIRMaster with LHA,LHX plugin.
*some will only work copying onto HDF files.

Re: Commodore Amiga
i will think to finish with update 80 and then stop. I would like to insert new OutRun AGA, the final version of Flying Shark or Grind. But i think that these games require so much too time.
after update 80 i try to make a new 1 zip file for 1 download only avoiding to download every updates.
maybe in the future there are new updates, but from the new big main archive.
Amiga scene is very active in these days and everyday new games, new unreleased games are published, so i'd like to have everything in database.

Re: Commodore Amiga
i tried to create an archive .7z, but i have errors during the compression phase. I'm trying to create an iso. The software said that there to many files, but iso process it's seems working, but i don't know if it working at the end.
i'd like to create a 1 archive with all updates included and cleaned but useless files, but it seems that people must download single archives and updates.
Edit:
iso files not working and too big to compress. i think that i could continue with updates.

Gamebase would have to unpack the ISO to the GBgame folder before running.
*this can take upto 10 mins depending on the compression and size.
so you would probably think it has crashed and quit before gamebase finishes the unpack task.
Re: Commodore Amiga
it's never a good idea to compress a CD/ISO for use with gamebase.

Re: Commodore Amiga
i intended to make a big zip archive to put on torrent. I had tried, but failed. Then anoter person made this big archive now available on torrent with main files and all 80 updates.
However main cd-rom games included are almost all compressed a part games that have 2 CD. Every games working good and time of loading is enough fast.

Re: Commodore Amiga
from the next update, default emulator will 5.3 that working like "old" for many games. However not yet 100% compatibile, so in some games you must use "old" config.
The problem are HD games. I have imported from another my gamebase that used WinUAE 4.2.1. In Commodore Amiga Gamebase default was 4.10.1 and not more working.
Now default will be 5.3
