hi
to try and make it easy so you can see
i download from
http://c64.hardwired.hu/
the game bubble dizzy(download the one called Chromance (+3+Picture)) its the only d64 for that game.
the file is called BDIZZY.D64
i installed everything from start
vbrun - gamebase 1.2 - GBC v 05
i have winvice 1.21 and with the wizard i entered it to gamebase
when i try to add the game for bubble dizzy
it gives me this error - "Could not open file. File already open"
and i can't click on the ok button because it is grayed.
hope this helps

OK, I researched the problem.
The message "File already open" should probably be stricken from the error string, because the true error is "Invalid Emulator File" (shown at left, above the D64 file viewer).
The D64 in question has a blank title/disk name. It is possible that a new feature added to v.1.2 to strip trailing spaces has broken the D64 viewer when file or disk names are completely blank.
I could make a quick change to the front-end to check for this situation if the problem is very common. We may wish to wait for other bugs to be reported before releasing an update - I'll check with Michael on this.

Man, it's been at least 20 years since I've tried to do anything to a 1541 - isn't there a 1541DOS command that could change the title of the disk? Or is there a way to make a copy of the disk with a new title?
I remember the years of using Fast Hack'em etc.
EDITED to say that it occurred to me to Google first and ask for help second and I found an article that says you can change the title by editing Track 18 in a sector editor. I can't post the link yet (this is my first post on my first day) but if you Google "1541 dos change title of disk" it's there somewhere.

First, fine bit of debugging. Second, speaking as a programmer myself don't you hate having the best of intentions only to get tripped up by something that happens on 13 files out of 5000????? Happens to me all the time.Brataccas wrote:It is possible that a new feature added to v.1.2 to strip trailing spaces has broken the D64 viewer when file or disk names are completely blank.
