Upgrading from v02 to v03

Mon Jun 20, 2005 11:44 pm

Okay, I've downloaded v03 but I'm a bit apprehensive in installing it over v02.

I've identifed around 850 favourite games in v02, added loads of comments, set difficulty levels etc etc - am I going to lose all these changes if I install v03?

Go ahead and install it, since it will not overwrite your v02 database. V03 installs as the database "GBC_v03" into GameBase. We (well, James) is currently working on a program that imports changes, like the ratings, highscores, etc. into another database. The interface is set up and seems to work fine (called BAC.exe), but does not actually finish the database merger yet. Once it is finished, you can use it to import all of your additions into the V03 database. There may be a few problems, like if V03 removed some games, but that should be rare.
