VICE v1.17 Released

Thu Oct 13, 2005 6:05 pm

VICE v1.17 was released October 7th, but there might be some issues, as the web site has reverted to the old v1.16. You can still download it though using the Google chached page.

I think your PC has some issues and not the Vice-team!
I can download 1.17 from the site and 1.16 is still available as an 'old' version.

No, it's not my PC. It must be something to do with the DNS lookup I'm using. viceteam.org is updated, but www.viceteam.org is not! I guess the update hasn't taken place for me. Strange! I've seen this before with pilotwarez.com & www. pilotwarez.com, where the update took a week for me.

Strange... For me it works, really!
Are you going through a proxy? From 3 different locations I see 1.17 on http://www.viceteam.org, so it must have anything to do with your connection I think... :?

You are on the other side of the world. How did you get a direct connection to Los Angeles?

Using my DSL connection...
But without a proxy server set in my internet browser.
Internet is a world wide network, you know... I can connect as easy to a host at the other side of the world as to my PC at the attic! 8)

You are still going through something local to get here. I have a fairly direct connection (I work on an Air Force Base as a contractor) to the University of Southern California (a backbone node). I suppose it could be something in my computer, but it still occurs after a cache flush, and it occurs on other computers at my facility.

... but not through a proxy server. A proxy server can store websites you visit to load them faster the next time you visit them. A proxy can be configured in your own network or maybe in your ISP's network. I don't use any of them and that's whait I meant. My DSL modem has a public IP address and the default gateway points to a router of my ISP and that's it.

Anyway, are you still getting the old version of WinVice? When you can download 1.17 now, there is no need anymore to discuss why it didn't work yesterday!
