Gamebase 128

C128 is bigger brother of C64 and includes C64,C128 and CP/M modes. CP/M mode is out of our interests, but what with C128 Basic 7.0 mode? Will there be C128 native mode games added to GB64 collection in future? It is planned to add C128 native mode games by GB64 team in future GB64 releases?

It sounds like a good idea to me - either a separate data file for Gamebase, or a separate genre in the current file. There are some interesting 128-only games.

Yes, I would be interested in C128 game collection. Exactly as you wrote - I take C128 as bigger brother of C64 ...

Yes, i am intersted in the C128 database.

I think we should put the programs whic have advanced functions when we run them on c128 in c64 mode.

Please include also C128 native mode games, too.

I think you should make a separate database for the C128, since it has some features that you will want to list that aren't in the C64 GameBase setting. Things like 40/80 colums, BASIC 7.0, CP/M, etc.

The GB Team is not planning on adding C128 specific games to the C64 db for these reasons. We would love to see a C128 db, so please proceed!

Is possible to create additional GB128 division of GB64 Team? And does GB64 Team have C128 native mode games in his archive? And will GB Team make separate Gamebase 128 by this way?

As leader of GB128 division may be:

Brian Bagnall

email:bbagnall@mts.net
site:http://www.mts.net/~kbagnall/

because he is most keen in this project from potential members of future gb128 division, known to me. Sadly, he gived up making GB128, because original Gamebase doesn't allow including screen mode field (40/80 columns)

Let's GB Team will add possibility of making 40/80 columns display, because there will be no chance to create GB128. If this will be done, Brian Bagnall will return to making GB128.

Is possible that someone else makeas GB128 in better way?

Is possible that someone else makes GB128, in wider way, not only in that simplified way as above which is TOSEC based? Someone on TOSEC forums says that is true. It is possible? Better GB128 than that one based on TOSEC roms? Where I can get it?

Nowhere. Above TOSEC GB128 is only existing project. Let's wait until this will be finished and released on Emule...

GB128 IS DEAD!

Tue Aug 16, 2005 12:43 am

I see that user ' bobek' attempted to make GB128, but gave up as switched to Amiga. (because there are no C128 emulators on Amiga 68k - there are only C64 ones) I hope that his crude sample release of GB128 which floats on edonkey around will inspire some men to create fully featured GB128. At this point GB128 is dead. But maybe in future someone will create this GB128 from anew in professional way?

I hope that GameBase 64 team will extend its GB to C128 as I see that they added C128 in C64 mode emulating option for C64 games. Additionally C128 is only other CBM related to C64. (due to C64 mode)

Why GB64 is not yet expanded to GB64 ?!

Tue Aug 16, 2005 5:17 pm

Why GBTEAM didn't expanded yet their GB by C128 games ?! I want them too! C128 is better flavor of C64, but not separate machine! It is only existing other CBM machine with C64 mode too!

GB128 - whats' with it?|

Mon Sep 26, 2005 6:13 pm

Now I see as follows: Multi-BASIC C= machines don't have luck. GameBases for them doesn't exists. This means GB128. GBC65, etc. Simultaneously, all Single-BASIC C= Machines such as C64, VIC20, PLUS4... have their gamebases. After that ithink, that Multi-BASIC C= machines are bad, and Single-BASIC C= machines are good for games.

I abandoned all C= things because I switched to Macintosh. There will be no more GB128 releases. Let's someone else get last release from emule and make new versions. I have enough with C=, this is too childish for me...

Hmm. As far as I know, the C128 was aimed at Business software more than gaming software. I know games DO exist that take advantage of the C128's 80 columns and extra memory. But, most need to be run in C64 mode.

CPM Mode was included to try and "Hang on" to some older users that were still using that OS. IMHO, MSDOS should have been the mode instead. And, Bill Gates didn't like Jack Traimel so he would have charged a FORTUNE for it.

The C64 mode was only included to allow existing Commodore customers to keep their software collections.

I wish I had one. Equipped with a 1541, 1581, drives and the 512k (or more) RAM expander. What a KILLER 8-bit!
