Just Wondering
Anyone ever done a Sinclair ZX80/ZX81 Gamebase.
Would be Interesting to see games running in 1K again lol.

The TRS-80 (non-color) models are a different range of computers, and the various hack (of which there are some in the Dragon GB)conversions were done from CoCo <>Dragon.
Re: RE
A few things got confused here. The Dragon wasn't known as Tandy Coco outside the UK. The Coco was in fact also available in the UK. The Dragon was also available in the US as the Tanodragon. And these machines are indeed very similar, but not really compatible.stanstimer wrote:OX wrote:Yes, "Gamebase Dragon" which is also Tandy Colour Computer.Hidron wrote:Out or curiosity has anyone done any work on gamebases for TRS-80 or the Tandy Color Computer?
Here you go - http://www.multiupload.com/I68QWWFEH8
Download the latest Xroar emulator from here http://www.6809.org.uk/dragon/xroar.shtml and copy over the rom files etc. from v0.24 in emulators dir, latest version has fast loading.
The Dragon 32/64 was known as the Tandy Coco (Colour Computer) outside the UK but the Tandy TRS-80 was a different machine. The TRS-80 could be converted to run dragon games by rewiring some components inside and adding some roms too but in general and from out of the box the TRS-80 could not run dragon games and most games for it would not work on the Dragon 32/64.
A Tandy TRS-80 gamebase would be different to a Dragon 32/64. It would need different emulators than XROAR and would have different games for it than Dragon 32/64. Some games would be Dragon games ported for the TRS-80 and vice versa but they would run slightly different and there would be a lot of games for the TRS-80 not available for the Dragon 32/64 and vice versa.
The TRS-80 (non-color) models are a different range of computers, and the various hack (of which there are some in the Dragon GB)conversions were done from CoCo <>Dragon.

Been reading Starscreams original link for the Russian Vector computer - Vector - http://www.sensi.org/~svo/scalar/categories/
There's links for downloads on there and I understand there is now an emulator - would love to see a gamebase for this.
- Any update on the Einstein GB Hardman?

Guys, I found out some great info about the Russian vector game system referenced above:
First, it is a computer system called the "Vector-06C". Here is some info on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector-06C
I discovered there is a Windows emulator that runs several Russian systems, called Emulator 3000. It's old but I just tried it and it runs fine on Windows7 32bit, and it runs this system.
http://www.emulator3000.org/e3.htm
Here's the link again to all the games, by category:
http://www.sensi.org/~svo/scalar/categories/
Installation:
Extract E3000.zip. Inside the folder is E3000.exe. Run the installer.
Next, run Emulator3000.exe from the install folder.
The great news is this emulator is in multiple languages, and defaults to English!
When you first run the emulator, you will get a choice of machines to run. Select the Vector-06C. Now it will default to that system each time you start the emulator. You can choose other machines if desired under "more>other machines", but for these games you will use the Vector-06C.
Settings
Under view, put a check next to "multiplied size" and "standard proportionality".
Under more>settings>general, put a check next to "Bilinear fltering", "High priority", and "multithreading" if desired.
Under more>settings>video, put a check next to all options except "Show speed", and select your desired full screen resolution.
Under more>settings>audio, select "frequency" (I'm using 48000), "bit depth" (I'm using 16), and "channels" (I'm using Stereo).
Select other options as desired. There are many options under "Tools" that I haven't touched.
Running games
Just click "file>open" and select your game rom.
Very important - select "tools>keyboard" to bring up the Russian keyboard emulator. You will not be able to play games without it (from what I have figured out so far). Once the onscreen keyboard opens up you can minimize it, but it must be running to use your keyboard to play the games.
Now just hit "alt+enter" to bring up the game fullscreen. All games are in Russian, but I ran "Galaxan" as a test and it was easy to figure out - "1" starts the game (as indicated on the scren), directional arrows control the ship, and "alt" fires.
I know this seems like a few steps but like all emulators, once you get the options set up as you like you won't need to do it again.
Now have fun and lets hope this gets made into a simple gamebase!
By the way, on the emulator site there's also a neat emulator called "Calculators 3000" that emulates many old russian calculators - pretty cool stuff.
Note:
There's another emulator I found called "multiple computer system emulator" and it also works great on Windows 7 32bit:
http://emulationrealm.net/modules/smart ... temid=2241
Just unzip to your desired folder, run "EMU.exe", and select your desired system (Vector06C). Click "file>open" and select your rom. Be sure to select "rom" under "files of type" when you open a file, otherwise you won't see your roms since it defaults to .emu as filetype. There are very few settings, and "alt+enter" switches to fullscreen. For this emulator, you don't need to bring up a keyboard emulator. The keys seem a bit different in layout - for Galaxan, 1 still starts the game, and the arrow keys still control the ship, but the "right ctrl" key fires.

Has anybody managed to get Einstein games running on the lastest versions of MESS? i can't, that is the reason i havn't finished it yet.hardmanm wrote:At the moment i am playing around with an Einstein gamebase i've made, so you have a release soon.

It's quite possible there was a regression and the driver is broken. I'd just use one of the older versions that's confirmed to work. I use 0.138.

I thought Elite was a known prominent exception, not the norm; I only have tested two games briefly, controls worked. If the problem is too common, your only option is probably to inquire about Einstein status over at the MESS board, that leads sometimes to results/bug fixes.
