poss prob?

Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:15 am

Firstly thanks for the great new release!
I have found a weird bug perhaps.

After configuring the paths etc to use relative (as I do with all my gamebase - and they ALL work (even amiga and ST) I thoguht I would start looking at some screenshots.
Having just read the interview wioth John Ritman recently in Retro Gamer, I selected Batman the movie as Batman was on my mind.
It then froze Gamebase ay 95% cpu.
I killed Gamebase, and tried sseveral other titles by just highlighting them in the front end to view screenshots etc.
All works, but if you selevt Batman the movie, it freezes at 95% cpu again.

Thoughts?

I tried Batman the Movie & have no problems. Maybe you should try to uninstall Gamebase completely & reinstall it.
By the way the Batman by John Ritman is under Batman (it is a 3D isometric game) & is in my opinion infinitely better than the movie one (just my opinion, I know a lot of people think otherwise...).
Enjoy,

Loïc

I am moving the entire directory as I think it is nested too far..
(I actually do not install gamebase, I just run it 'standalone'.)
BTW, batman the movie was just the first one I spotted!
The ritman game is tons better!

YUP nested too far for relative pathing to work 100%.

BTW, batman is not in the version of the GB that I have here. (508 games listed)

emulator issues

Thu Feb 05, 2009 2:38 pm

when I right click on the 'play game' tab to use 'Caprice32", the emu launches but the script seem to not parse the gamefile ...
is this (currently) as it should be?

regards,
Arthur.

I haven't had a chance to put Batman in GBCPC yet, but that should be done in the next release (at least I think).
As for the script for Caprice32, I can't seem to figure out how to make it work, so I left it as is. If anyone want to give it a shot, that would be fantastic as some games only work on Caprice32.

DOH!

Fri Feb 06, 2009 10:49 am

I did a silly thing...
I upgraded the ver of CPCE to the latest one (1.85) and it runs fine.
When you then launch a game from GB it modifies the cpce.ini and breaks the emulator with a configuration error. you can no longer run the emu, even manually (ie not from GB)

if I overwrite the original packed with the new emu .ini file it works again. I therefore found (I think it) is the autotype part of the script causing the prob...

I do not want to tread on your toes and release amended scripts (especially as I do not fully understand the setup), but I can confirm if you remove the last entry in the.ini after breaking it
"autotype=|cpm ", the emu at least launches manually again..
thoughts?

Actually, version 1.85 is not le latest & does not support the command "autotype". The most recent release was made in November & is the one included in GBCPC. If you specifically want to use version 1.85, you will have to turn autorun to 1 in the GEmus & the ini file.
Cheers,

Loic

pants...
:(
any chance you could tell me the one to download (and from where)??
I deleted the .rar you offered, and need to replace the emulator with 'your' ver..
oh well, I thought I was doing the right thing by going to cpce's website.

Thanks for the replies btw,
:)

Here is the link:
http://cngsoft.no-ip.org/cpce20081118.rar
Hopefully we will get a new version that can support GAP protections as some games can only be played in Caprice32 at the moment...

Sun Mar 01, 2009 3:53 pm

Hi Loic,

Just for my own personal version of this gamebase.
i have spent a few hours resizing and compacting the screenshots.
most are now 320x200 (the gamebase view size).

if you want them...
